Franchise Disclosure Register Update 2025: Now Open for Compliance

Posted by Elizabeth Gore-Jones on 2 April 2025

The new Franchising Code of Conduct took effect on 1 April 2025, requiring franchisors to amend their information on the Franchise Disclosure Register. However, the register was unexpectedly closed for business on launch day, leaving franchisors and franchisees unable to access or update information.

What Happened on 1 April 2025?

On 1 April 2025, the Franchise Disclosure Register was closed, meaning:

  • Franchisors could not update their information as required by the new Code.
  • Franchisees were unable to search for information about franchisors.

This closure caused a temporary setback for compliance efforts.

The Register Is Now Open—Act Quickly

As of today, 2 April 2025, the Franchise Disclosure Register has reopened for business. Franchisors should now update their information to comply with the new Franchising Code requirements. Prompt action is essential to avoid potential penalties.
